Cooking without words
Intermediate examination paper about nonverbal recipes
At Köln International School of Design the pre-diploma examination requires the students to work on two solely theoretical papers (secondary topics) and one main thesis that additionally includes a practical part.
In my main paper, I tried to develop alternative ways of communicating cooking recipes. Before actually working on new solutions, the preliminary step was extensive research work in order to get a general idea of pictograms as well as old and modern picture languages. After that was accomplished, I started designing a first recipe prototype.
